For those who missed the Amazon/Viking Deal, this one's even better:

from another BBS:

"
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000488VI/ref=t_th_em_is

They are selling the card for $ 119.99 and they are offering a $ 45 rebate (expires June 7, 2001...so HURRY). This makes the card cost $ 74.99 (the web page says $85...somebody's caluculator needs a new battery or something because that's wrong.) But I digress...

If you enter the coupon code DEALJUNEHAND they'll take $10 off a $65 minimum purchase! And to top this sundae off with a cherry...they offer FREE shipping on this item!!!

recap:
119.99 price (w/FREE SHIPPING included)
-45.00 mail-in rebate (expires 6/7/01...print the coupon yourself)
-10.00 coupon (expires 6/17/01)
----------
$64.99 TOTAL PRICE for 128mb SanDisk compactflash card

There may be some tax depending on where you live.

I hope this is useful information! "

You guys are gonna send me to the poorhouse for sure! This weekend I saw a 128Mb CF card for $130 and thought it to be a good deal (didn't buy)--so this is terrific. Thanks (I guess!). Also today I got 2 PC Card Clik drives for $35 at buy.com. Cool.

laserfan, someone posted over in the GCT group that he called buy.com customer support and they said it was only the adapter and doesn't include a Clik disk. if that's the case then buy.com was very misleading in their ad. I emailed techbargains.com to let them know about that report too. he said he'd look into it. anyway, just wanted to warn you in case its true.

Re: CLIK! PC Card I would be surprised if it did not include the disk as the photo shows the disk, the specs suggest the disk is there, and frankly I doubt Iomega packaged them in any way other than as "Mfr 12023" which include the drive, one disk, a CD-ROM, and manual. I think it's much more likely that Cust. Service didn't know what they were talking about with the poster to GCT, especially considering they represent thousands of products, they don't even warehouse them w/Cust. Service, and indeed these are somewhat obscure devices, aren't they...

I also believe that Iomega may be encouraging getting these things off-the-market since they've changed the product name (to Pocket Zip I believe). Maybe they discovered "CLIK" infringed on someone's copyright or something and they had to change.

Of course I will report if my shipment is anything different than the standard packaging.

Does anyone have a copy (GIF or whatever) of the $45 Off coupon for this? Yesterday when I ordered the CF card it was $45, today it is $35 and since I waited to print it out at work today, I missed out on the $45 printout. For some inexplicable reason I can't find the GIF in my Temporary Internet Files; maybe I revisited and it was copied over? I did email amazon but no response yet...can anyone help.

Epilog:

Rec'd both the SanDisk and the CLIK items today. The CLIKs for $17.95 were indeed the full-boat retail items w/disk and even a spiffy carry-case. I had sent an email to Amazon about missing the $45 rebate coupon and they said one was in the mail. So life is good.

argh. I was all set to order four of those Clik drives when I canceled. I didn't want to get stuck with four of them if they didn't come with the disk. oh well, I have plenty of other things to do. All these hobby projects are keeping me busy.

I tried one of my CLIK devices this morning and it's pretty slick; they function just like any other removeable and the disks themselves are about half the size of a credit card (and not much thicker!). Spring-loaded so you push in to seat, push again to release. I guess in these days of MicroDrives the CLIKs aren't quite awe-inspiring, but there's no denying they are an achievement. I'm convinced however from looking over the retail packaging, and from the confusion even on this board, that Iomega has failed to market them properly, and they're changing the name to capitalize on the Zip name (Pocket Zip) which people understand. In the meantime they will continue to clear-out inventories of the older CLIK-named stuff so you should be able to easily find a similar deal on these.

Bottom line: they work. The 64 dollar question is "how useful are they really" given a.) they only work w/PC Card computers unless you buy yet-another-reader/gizmo, and b.) they are "only" 40megs of removeable storage each.
