Reminds me of a good use for an old laptop with a decent TFT screen. get a nice picture frame, about the right size as the laptop screen, (with matting), put the laptop electronics behind the frame, plug a wireless ethernet card in, and write some software to randomly select a picture from an ftp/http site. of course, with linux you could telnet into the device and configure it..

Ummmm....is there some reason you think you couldn't telnet into the device with any other OS running on it?

That thing's baddly crippled...I was kicking myself for missing it at that price, but it seems you're tied into their $5/month service and that there's no removable storage...limiting it to 20 pics !

I just returned one before my 30 days went past. It seemed too limited if the company failed and I was afraid I would not get my rebate.

I don't have much to add since I could not disassemble it (the back is stapled into place and I didn't want to damage it) but I did notice that the phone jack actually had 6 "pins", not your typical 4. No idea how these trace out, but possibly there direct serial communication on the extra pins. Phone only needs 2, right?

Otherwise I search the net for any type of hack info and came up blank. I don't think much is known about these and $200 was too much for an experiment for me. $99 (excluding a rebate) might have got me though!
