What do you guys think? It seems like a waste of time to have such a large community of people on here and not have an alternative forum to discuss Hardware issues, Os issues, etc. I mean, we all have alternatives such as IRC, Usenet, etc. Im just curious as to wether any of you would benefit from this type of forum. Comments??

Yeah! Off-topics diminish the focus of the individual areas. They also either sit unseen by many modders in areas they don't visit -- I rarely scope WebSurfer -- OR are annoyingly crossposted in multiple groups and you have to monitor multiple threads to stay on top of a single topic.

I don't think it's a good idea. There are other boards dedicated to that sort of thing, and this site has always focused on the IA's and things such as OS/hardware/etc issues not related to a particular IA seem out of scope.

It would be another forum to watch and more threads to track. It isn't like any of the current forums are getting bogged down with extraneous stuff.

I still think adding moderators is a good idea though, just in case problems do happen they can be contained.

Personally, I'd like to see a board/area dedicated to these good deals people keep finding. I only manage to see the ones on my subset of boards I read.

Just a thought...

Ideas ! ? ! ? !

The "News" Forum should be restricted to 3 - 5 Replies @ Most.

I would Like to see a "General Chat Area", (One Stop Shopping !)
Open to Everyone, No Rules, Kinda like this Whole Board is Now !

"Auction" & "SWAP MEET" should become One Forum, with "GROUP BUYS" & "DEALS"
("Gathering" is Important, But it is Not HACKing.)

Then The "Next Level", "Project/Hacking", Broken into Forums,
Pretty much like most of the Board is,
Except Lose the General & Reference, I-Opener & WebSurfer Forums.
I would have this Level Restricted to Postings By Registered Users Only.
(If People are caught misbehaving?,
They can be thrown back to the "Chat Room" Only)
This could Keep the "silly" Questions out of the Work Threads.

WE Need some "Harvesters" going thur the older stuff, getting the GOLD out,
So the Rest Can be Deleted, in Hopes that the SEARCH Function could be brought back to Usefullness.

& Finally The "Reference Section" should be
HTML WEB PAGES that are Donated by their Builders.
These could be Built, tested & Approved OffSite
& then Uploaded to "Linux-Hacker" & Linked.

How Do You Make Money ? Put Up a Donate $5/$10 PayPal Button
Your AD Banners are Nice, But The "No Compete" Rule just doesn't Work !
You Can't Stop the Flow of Information.
If You Keep the Banners & I think You Should.
You Should Post The Prices, for a Month & 1/2 a Year !

Instead of Moderaters for Every Area, I would think Shifts or Watches, A Person All the Time (24/7)
Someone should Always be Here Monitoring, If You Hope to Have Any Rules.

I Actualy Like the No Rules Atmoshere Here
& Think that WE have kept it on Topic most of the Time.

This Board isn't about Personal Attacks or Me being Rude !
It's about HACKING ! (some people Need to Remember that !)

Thanks for reading My Input, & Good Luck with whatever You Decide to Do.
