Hi all
I bought a Metrobook SLT yesterday and it is the most amazing little toy I've ever played with.. Anyways I was wondering if there is interest I can set up a group buy just like the Norands.. I would also like to get some more of these for myself, cheaper.
Here are the specs
P233MMX
8.4" TFT Touchscreen
takes up to 128 MB PC100 SDRAM SODIMM (same as iopener)
takes 9.5mm notebook hard drive
24X CDROM + floppy
2 PCMCIA slots (CardBus + ZV)
9.5" wide X 6.25" deep X 1.5" high
2 USB ports
Lithium Ion battery (lasts 1.5 hour)
Its really really small
The guy has 50+ brand NEW units in original boxes. They come with everything except memory/hd (I borrowed both from my iopener 128m and 6gb) including ac adapter, manuals, cd rom, floppy, carrying case...
Here is a link to a current ebay auction for it, for a look at internals (the one on ebay is one model older (p200mmx) than what I got, but looks same)..

I bought mine for $400, but he will cut me deal of $360 ea for 10+ units, or $320 ea for 20+ units...NEW
As far as I've researched it is known by many other names as Aurora MNB-6500, Gigatech MNB-6000 (which I think is original manufacturer), and Ergo MiniBook (in UK). It uses Sharp TFT LQ084S1DH01, and Gigatech touchscreen, Neomagic Magicgraph 128ZV+ video chip, Intel 430TX chipset. I've got WinME running on it in my car play mp3s + dvd drive playing dvds w/ margi dvd2go. Win2k works fine too.
And the story on these is that Metrobook went down the drain and these have been sitting in GTSI warehouse for 8 months, and apparently Metrobook took orders and then integrated the hard drive and memory -- so these are all brand new w/out hd/mem.
Well email me at bsingh@purdue.edu. The first 10 people will get one (dont want to ship 20 units =( BUT if someone helps me ship then 20+ =) and also if theres enough interest. Oh also, the guy has extra batteries and car adapters, maybe we can setup a separate group buy on those let me know if interested.
