This has already been slashdotted, so there may be none left now, but here goes:

http://tuxscreen.net/

This is a StrongArm-based screen phone that can be hacked to boot a Linux distribution.

OK, I got mine yesterday and I was able to configure it to use my ISP without any hacking and using the built-in inferno software alone.

It dialled a 1-800 number to try to update its software as part of initial configuration, but did not have permission to connect to the server. Nevertheless, the ISP configuration and browser work even without the update.

The built-in browser is painfully slow and takes forever to render even the simple Google home page.

However, the build-quality of the unit is outstanding, and it could be the ideal strongArm/Linux IA platform with a bit of work.

The DSTN 640x480 screen is nice, even with its small size. The screen has tilt/swivel capability and a built-in touch-screen.

I'll try to post more info after taking it apart, maybe in a week or two.

Linuxguru,
When you have time...
Will the TuxScreen Dual scan LCD screen interface with the i-Opener board without a whole lot of modding?
I'm looking for a smaller screen for mobile overhead use.

Unlikely to work without modding. The screen is physically smaller, has only a 640x480 resolution, and the pinouts have to be found and the connectors spliced on. IMHO, it's not worth trying.
