Interesting new Box from Shuttle

Ran across this little Cube PC from Shuttle. It reminds me of Apple's Cube. I like it. I think it's kinda cool. It's nice to see a different design.

http://www.shuttleonline.com/sv24.htm

It would make a nice I-Appliance. It would look right at home next to the toaster. Actually, It looks like a full blown PC with with one of those expensive aluminum cases that went through the trash compactor. Maybe O2U2 has already seen this kinda thing in his dumpster diving!

I thought that the motherboard that the SV 24 uses might make for a nice car computer, and now there is a case to go along with it!I think I'm going to buy one. If I can find a site that carry's the thing that is (I haven't had much luck so far.) Actually I've been thinking about the price of car mp3 players so I may just buy one of those instead... I do want to have the benifits of having movie playback/gps but for the price that they are now...what do you think I should do?

The ss40g at http://www.shuttleonline.com/spec.php3?model=ss40

is very similar to the sv24 but uses an AMD chip. IN a month or two a version of each is going to be coming out with a AGP slot I believe which wouldmake it a good portable gaming machine.

I didn't see a price for it? Any idea? If the SV24/25 is $150+, and the SS50 is $275 or so, what will the SS51 be? $350? $400?

$350 or more is just too much. I can't even justify spending $150 or so for a SV24 when I can build an entire flex atx system for less. Of course, although the ibm netvisa flex case looks nice, it is still huge compared to the sv24/25 or ss series.

It's about time that smaller stylish computers are becoming available. I can't remember a time when I used all the available slots on my motherboard. Heck, for me, most micro atx mobos have enough slots. All I need is an AGP, and maybe 2 PCI slots. I would guess that most people are similar to me, in that they don't need 6 PCI slots in addition to an AGP slot to have a decent running computer. Of course, if you want the fastest possible gaming rig, or some other special setup, you might want all 6 PCI slots. Just my 2 cents.

I think it's way Kool little unit and would not hesitate to spend $400 + cost of Cpu.

Well I finally broke down and bought the Shuttle SS51 XPC. Gosh I'm feeling really giddy again,,,Another new toy!

Walked into Harddrives Northwest and there she was in all her glory! Pretty blue lights and all!
I Had $800 cash burning a hole in my pocket...(Sold My old Compaq 500Mhz K6-2 laptop and had money from the broken PDA sales!)

Paid $350 + tax, Yeah a little more than what you can get it for online nowdays ($279) but I like HDNW 1 year parts warranty.

Bought a P-4A 2.0GHZ (512K cache) CPU for it and a black floppy drive. Cutting edge down the road has Black CD-rom drives that cost a bit less.

Already have a brand new 120GB 7200RPM Western digital HDD for it and 256MB stick of ram.
I'm gonna try the working recycled (Dumpster special) GeForce 4 64MB AGP Video card, Hope it fits!

Gonna put it together during the 4 day holiday next week. (YES!!! 4 DAYS OFF!)
