Just got an email from Tiger Direct with
Ipaq on sale for $99. Are these things
equivalent to the Audrey?

They're more akin to the EPods, but they do use a standard processor.

Here's the thread dealing with them.

about the same as a iopener same chip set
better cpu amd k62-266 no upgrading the ram 32megs is it . same sandisk 16m flash
no ide port just compact flash crappy software modem 8(

I'm planning to purchase one for the kitchen, but I've got to find out which USB nics I can use with it first. (A touch-screen similar to the Audrey's would've been nice for this, IMHO.)

COMPAC iPAC modify for local ISP And upgrade to version 2

Remove Power plug for 10 seconds

Re-insert power plug,

The red Compaq logo will appear along with a little white blinking cursor in the upper left corner. When the cursor drops about an inch, press Control U a few times.
Wait for the service screen to appear.
Erase (hold the right arrow key till you reach the end then back space over all the text) the user name and replace with your ISP user name Tab to the next field Erase the password and replace with your ISP password
Tab to next field Erase the phone numbers and replace with your local ISP^Òs phone number
Tab thru to the URL and remove the s from https. Thats about it. It will take a LONG time for the image file to download so go have lunch, out, far from where you are now.

CiccoPippo,
Thanks for the post. I put mention of it (a link, and thanks to you of course) over in the msn companion forum for all to see.

I found that by holding the power button for 4 seconds does a reboot, so you don't even have to unplug it.

Have you heard of any other codes? How did you find that out?

I guess we should continue this over in the msn companion forum.

Yep same here it did the update (Took an hour..) after that it rebooted and gets the same error.. (( Call Tech Support..))

The first part work perfectly and dials into my ISP, Gets the upgrade, after that it reboots and errors out..

Wonder what the Post Data field is for ? (Full of data.. I removed it but still did not work)

And also the URL Field ??

Going to experiment with these two fields later tonight and see if I can come up with a solution..
