Office Max has a 12x10x32 Internal CDR/CDRW Ide drive HP model 12ri (or Hi-Val is optional.) Limited quantities!
For Flat $39.99 plus tax. NO REBATES REQUIRED! Advertised front page in sales flyer.
Same HP drive at Office Depot sells for $119.99

Got 3 HP 12 Ri's this morning and there where 2 left and 2 Hi-Val's left. Prolly gone now.
Strange thing was only 8 folks standing in line at opening this morning...

Wierd thing is the Office max website does not have anything about the HP drive. The Hi-Val is selling online for $129.99

Maybe it was a big goof up?

Depending on the outcome of sales the next few days we MAY even see more DEEP discounts to lure customers,

this deal was also on the iomega 12x and one other brand all were $39.98. Pretty much a dead deal at this point as none are in stock anywhere and the web site has either removed the products or they are out of stock and will not ship.

The iomega deal was sweetest of all bec there was a $50 mail in rebate so you actually MADE $10 on this drive!

Current hot deal is the Cendyne 24X at office max for $109-($25coupon)-$20MIR=$69 for a top rated 24x burner!

Yeah, 24x would be nice but pretty much overkill for me at the moment.
I have about 4 or 5 hundred up to 12x CD-R and CD-RW media disks by various manufacturers that I need to use up first.
These were customer return Sony,Imation,Memorex,Prime peripherals,Fuji and a few others.
I don't know what the problem was with the media? Random samples all worked fine on my systems.
The only media I have had problems with is bought Comp-usa generic "bulk" (junk) disks. Some C-USA disks have actually formed small dark spots on the read side of the disk causing read failure.

Hi,
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, yesterday morning I visited my local Office Max and picked up a Hi-Val for $39, it comes with Nero 5.5 bundled and the front page indicated it was a 16x10x40 drive (that is the user guide) the box still indicated 12x10x40 either way I'm a happy camper... THANKS!

Not sure if anyone's interested, but last week I visited my local Office Max and asked if anyone had ordered/reserved one of these drives and not picked it up... I was told yes... I asked if I could have one, a manager said he'd recall the people whose numbers he had and advise them to pick the unit up or lose it, tonight I got a call that one was available, and indeed went right down and paid $39.99! It rang up at $99 then the manager switched a key on the register and it was discounted (I elected to pay cash). Not sure if this was a total fluke or not, but thought perhaps others may be interested... good luck! ( I now got 2 of these

Hi,
If anyone has the Hi-Val version of this drive, and has problems burning with Nero ... it may be helpful to know that it's a rebadged (OEM) Ricoh 7120A and while not flashable from the firmware at the Ricoh website (the jp not the ricohusa website which is imho useless), it is flashable from the Aopen taiwan website (under product files for crw1232), once flashed with the 1.31 firmware I've had no problems at all. Not sure what the HP's are (didn't get one:-o )
