Wondering whats basiacly inside? Can it be reconfigured? Be nice to drop in a LT HD and have it spool off from its hd. Does it decompress mp3 inside or is it just the "audio" over the LAN connection?

so -- if i have ordinary/normal 10/100 Cat5e RJ-45 ethernet, can I replace the HPNA e-net card in the player, or do i need to add an HPNA device to my network to drive the device?
since mine is backordered , i can't examine it myself . . . (yet)

one thing you will want to do is get a better kernel for it http://www.mock.com/receiver/
with the kernel it comes with the front panel volume control
only works with the amp'd outputs not line level out the new
kernel fixes that.

RE:Sonic Blue Rio Digital Audio Receiver from Tiger (modified 0 times)
Got my Sonic Blue today. Plugged into my home E-Net network and turned it on. Both Link and activity light go
on BUT it's not showing a link light on my switch and I can't see it on my network. The activity light is solid. I am color blind so I can't tell if it's red. Initial indications are that I have to do something to it to talk via the
ethernet network. Already have ruled out any problems with the cable or the switch. Any suggestions?

i had the same problem pluged into a 10baset hub it worked fine in a 100baset hub so what i did was cut the wires 4-5-7-8
(i think 10base-t uses 1-2-3-6) on the network cable going into the rio and it worked fine.ken segler

<Ken>Thanks for your quick response. I had it plugged into what I thought was an auto 10/100 switch but
it was not. Plugged it into another autonegociate switch and worked great. Guess I should have read the instructions...thanks again.

I finally got my unit installed, it really took about 10 minutes, rather cool. I'm using the homePNA network since I have that as well as wireless and 100M wired.
My main question is: Is there a way from one of my computers to select a song to play? I'm assuming that this would require a mini-web server or something like that.

ok, to answer my own questions, no - currently there isn't a working web based interface to the machine, however here are some _really_ interesting links:
received the new Tigger Duh-rect crapalog this evening, and it's on Page 4 for $99 again, but can't find it on the web site, either by part number or manufacturer. . . maybe a phone call to 800-888-4437 will get you one.
TD part number is still M975-1036

Here's a third party hack for accessing the Rio Receiver via a web page (Java). It has its limitations, but I am VERY happy someone did the work for this (Go Frank!) It works great for me. It also includes the hack that allows volume control on line out. I easily applied this on my Windows server without any Linux or programming work.
