Lindows....hmmm (Linux + Windows...)

Has anyone heard anything or seen anything about Lindows? Apparently, the former CEO of MP3.COM is the head honcho of Lindows at www.lindows.com. I myself am not much of a linux person, but i'm learning. I have a 266mhz bootstrapped with Windows 98SE, Mandrake Linux, Phat Linux, and Dragon Linux, thanks to my own custom batch file. I'm real interested in Lindows and I think it would be nice to slap it on some kind of internet appliance. Feedback?

Lindows is basically a customized distro of linux with wine. They are supposedly tweaking wine so that everything works. So far the reviews of the beta have been less than impressive. Basically you can download a distro install wine and you have lindows, less the desktop that looks "alot" like MS windows.

I'm waiting for them to call it licrosoft lindows and then they can run loffice and ledia player. Basically they are begging for a lawsuit.

Yeah, I imagine so. I just think it would pretty cool for us non-linux techies out there. From what i've been able to use of Phat Linux, I love the dang thing. I'm about to try out Bearops Linux because it caught my eye, especially the part where it says "Install in Windows 98" and "Installs with three mouseclicks"...I figure what the heck. I'm not much of an avid Linux book reader anyways, I like to experiment on my own. Problem is, I just don't know where to start most of the time. What flavor Linux do you all recommend? I spent all last night downloading the latest and greatest ISOs, which takes up about 27GB now, so you know i'm trying. Input greatly appreciated.

bmurphr1: If your new to windows i would highly recommend Mandrake or even Red Hat. Both are really simple to get up and going. There installers have come a long, long way they are easy to follow and get setup.

Lindows is being sued by Microsoft.

Not over what they are trying to do, but because of the name.

go to http://lindows.com.

no info about the suit, but info about the company and product.
