New Intel video driver for 810/815 chipsets
Video memory increased to 32mb

A lot of devices in these forums use 810/815 chipsets. These new drivers allow the board to devote 32mb of shared memory to the video chip. I haven't tried it yet.....some other forums are already talking about it.

Aight...I downloaded the drivers and installed them, but I have never heard about devoting more memory to your video card. How do you acomplish that?

Like I said, I have not done this yet.....I think the 32mb is an option located in the adapter properties.

Same here, With one of my "Barbie" Pc's I couldn't find any settings to adjust the memory but it did fix my Haugauge USB Tv tuner; the video is much better and now works in full screen mode.

What forums do you read in that has information about that driver? I'm dying to know how to enable 32MB video memory, because I have a 566 with 320MB of RAM that I'd like to try it out with. Thank ya

JUMPING F***IN JESUS! Just looked in the Advanced properties in the Display properties and saw 32MB and about crapped on myself. I don't know if that's right or not, but i'm about to whip out SiSoft Sandra and Wintune and check this thang out.

Ah-Ha...

Yes, it does show 32mb of memory for the card under advanced properties. I was looking for a prompt to adjust it and couldn't Do you suppose it's an edit in a file some where?

Also according to task manager there is a total of 256mb memory, I guess the 32mb is part of that since I expected it to be 256 - 32 but it's not.

So the million dollar question is it really using 32mb or not?

Is this available anywhere else? I've been trying to d'load since the link was posted but have been unable to do so. FTP client won't find it, and browser just hangs at "Setting passive mode"

TIA!

info on intel's site says that: "Intel® 810/810E/815/815E chipsets will dynamically allocate video memory up to 11 MB, as needed" This information predated the new graphics driver and apparently the 32 megs of memory now reported used to be 11. Maybe the new driver lets 32 megs of shared memory be allocated to the video. The chipset allocates the mmemory rather than the user so you can't adjust it.

You know I thought the same thing. I read the article about 11meg max....sure enough it was written before the new driver came out. This chip uses shared memory in an as-needed manner. Maybe it can go up to 32megs with the new driver....but how to confirm it?
