Thanks TomC. I just checked PCSurplus. They now have 13 left. There were 26 left earlier after I ordered three and posted to board. Although I've vowed to never purchase another CRT and have a bunch of TFT's (some dual scan)these might fill the bill for better viewing of a couple of color security cameras that capture lots of movement. Of course there are many uses for these and the price is great. I'm probably going to use one for cameras at bird feeders; put right over my bench so I don't have to go to windows to see all the feathered critters when I'm working (playing!???!).

Do a search on eBay for "POS Monitor" or 9inch monitor.
There is a guy thats selling 9 inch "MONO" VGA monitors.
He at the time had a huge quanity of them, and I got 4 at $7 (Seven dollars) each.
They are in exellent condition, and shipping was only a total of $15 for all 4 monitors..

Geez...
I scored on a bunch of brand NEW in box IBM mono POS 9" monitors with swivel arm, Dumpster diving.
Sold these to "Vetco" in Bellevue for $25 ea. They now have a $99.99 price sticker on them in the store.
He only had "2" left last time I was there.

geekgranny: Thanks for the tip on the monitor! I've been looking for a small monitor for my bench. This will also be great for portable use. I will be able to throw it in the trunk (literally, if I wanted to <g>) and not worry about if it gets damaged (i.e. it was cheap).

anyone: Have you discovered any way of adjusting the width of the screen image? Mine has controls for moving the image up/down, left/right, and image height, but not the width. I assume that there is an internal control pot, but I haven't looked for it yet.

Has anyone mapped which screen modes are available? I've tried a few, but haven't done an exhaustive test.

Has anyone determined the make/model of the monitor? Mine is devoid of any markings. About all I can tell is that it was made in '93.

To answer one of my own questions...

I've found the adjustment for the horizontal width. It is on the main circuit board, centered from side-to-side and about 2/3 of the way to the back. It was hiding under a cable. I was able to adjust this to get another 3/8" of width from the display. I'd like to get a bit more width, but that would require a parts change. I probably won't bother.

WARNING: Do not attempt to do this adjustment if you are not experienced with working on CRT's. Dangerous voltages exist within the chassis even when it is turned off and unplugged. I'm not qualified to give you advice on how to do this safely. This information can be found on the net if you look for it. 3/8" of screen width is not worth a nasty electrical burn (or worse).

I have been able to get mine going at 32k 800X600 using ATI adjustment tools. Little burn in; I can see "First Union" burn in pretty clearly. Bought two of these. They were kind of dirty but they do work well. Got the picture from end to end by using the ATI tools.
