It seems that NEC is introducing a Crusoe-based desktop in a form-factor that is similar to, but larger and deeper than the I-Opener.

Sounds nice, but with just a 20MB hard drive, I think I will stick with my newly acquired dynapads. The dynapad, while almost 10 years old, is 1/100th of the price and has a hard drive 4x as big.


See the yahoo article from above:

"The PowerMate eco incorporates a 900MHz Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 processor equipped with a 20MB hard drive..."


Fortunately, they did list it correctly later in the article.

$1,600?? What are they smoking? (cause I want some) I just bought a 1.2 ghz pentium 3 laptop with a 30 gig hard drive, 15" screen and a cd burner for $799 from gateway...even if you just need a small computer not a laptop a laptop is a much better deal...

(This is my 200th post by the way...I don't know if I should be excited or horrified...)
