Went to order (WEB stated "IN STOCK" and received an email that they are back ordered)(and should be in in less 30 days). I guess the rebate company is not dependable so it's and excellent price but a gamble. I haven't decided whether to cancel or not yet. Rebate's end on 08/15. I doubt that it will be shipped before that date but REBATE states that you have up to 30 days to send in your rebate form.

Con:
1. it's Tigger Duh-wrecked -- you have been warned
2. while supplies last - same as everyone else
3. there's no rebate, the price is $89

Pro:
1. $90 for 2 GB PC Card HDD is fair, IMHO
2. My Compaq IA-1 has been waiting for this...

So, if you're really wanting to get one, this is another possible source.

Received mine yesterday from Gateway supplier. Interesting that I cancelled order last Tuesday (13th). Best I could do right now is wait for rebate and if I don't receive it request a refund from Gateway. I have an acknowledgment of my order cancellation from the 13th and did not get an information regarding shipping of HD.

Maybe it will be free . Gateway is a HORRIBLE company when it comes to customer service and getting your order right, I would tell you my story but it would take me about an hour to type...lets just say I have been shooting at their logo for target practice....

I just received my 2gig drive as well. Now I need to figure out how to send in the rebate form. The rebate form says I need "the original serial number and part number from the 2GB Toshiba Removable Hard Drive Backup System from the outside of the box as proof of purchase". I do not have the box with me at the moment...I hope it is obvious where the serial number is.

Serial number with bar code is the only sticker on the otherwise very plain box. Looking now for a drive bay front PCMCIA loader. Only can find older style 16-bit and newer style (for wireless cards) PCI slot style PCMCIA holder. Anyone out there know of a source?

Answering my own question. Cheap to purchase ISA $10-20 more for PCI. Anyone have a reasonable source for PCI style?

to check the status. Mine is approved and Estimated Check Mail Date is 10/30/02. :)

BTW I use Antec PC card reader to read the HD on PC, I have seen the same OEM model from Lexar sold under $20.
