Unusual FlexATX MB

I came across a very unusual Socket A, FlexATX, Nforce 420D motherboard for $46.00 shipped.

http://www.package2you.com/details.htm?productid=2C-1011

Other than the MBs shipped in Shuttle's SS40G barebones system, this is the only FlexATX MB I have ever seen for the Athlon/Duron CPU. The fact that it also has A GeForce 400 MX video built in is a clincher. This is trully an All-in-One MB with Video, TV-out, Audio, LAN, Modem, DDR memory, etc. Some Specs:

MSI manufactured MS-6353 for Fujitsu-Siemens
FlexATX
- Two (2) PS/2 ports
- One (1) GeForce 400MX 15-pin standard VGA connector
- One (1) 4-pin standard S-Video TV-out connector
- One (1) 25-pin standard parallel port
- Two (2) USB ports (supports up to four more via motherboard)
- One (1) RJ-45 standard Ethernet jack
- One (1) RJ-11 standard phone jack
- Line-in, microphone and line-out jacks

I have been unable to find any information on this MB and I suspect it was never available retail or in the USA. Apparently Fujitsu-Seimens used this board in a SFF PC offered in Europe.

Burbie owners, this may be the ultimate upgrade for your systems!

Beware!

The retailer doesn't have a great Reseller Rating: http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2249.html

There are only 32 in stock , down from 42 in only an hour!

It uses a Notebook floppy drive connector.

I wouldn't expect any Tech Support from the manufacturer.

I ordered one, and would have ordered more except for the resellerratings.

As always, I enjoy this forum and hope this is of use to you all.

intresting mobo hmmm.... with built in modem and nic this would make excellent thin client or a great dial up router box but one caveat is it use 184 pin ddr memory cards instead of 168pin dimm but a bonus is it support 200/266mhz fsb!!!! from 650 to 1.2 ghz!
and a real bonus is nvidia 400mx is great for gamer dream!!!

What type of case would you use for this MB?

PeteC: They are a FlexATX form factor. It doesn't matter much now since they are all gone. I had two in my "cart" (when 17 were left) and I decided to do a bit more shopping. When I went to check out they were all gone. I'll take that as a sign from God that I really didn't need them . They would have been nice for the Barbie PC's. Maybe more will come back into stock later.

Electronics run on smoke, if you let the smoke out they won't work

Try ebay....

A quick search using "MSI socket A" gave just what you want.

Easy or what?

Cheers,

Nice find gr8_brit.
My Motherboard from package2you should be waiting for me at home tonight. I won't have a chance to mess with it till the weekend. Should it checkout ok I'll be looking for another one. Don't worry I won't bid against you; I feel lucky I got the one I got. Hope the vendor on Ebay has more. There is a discussion about this board on anandtech.com you may want to checkout:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=896369&highlight_key=y&keyword1=msi

I post good hacker deals to this BBS only. It's my way of giving a little back for all the great info I've gotten here. Warning, If you post deals to anandtech the deal evaporates almost instantly. Use some discretion.

P.S. I might not get chance to checkout the MB this weekend. I'll be in the pits helping my nephew with his "pumpkin chucking" catapault. It's the annual pumpkin chucking contest down state Delaware. Last years winner tossed a pumpkin 4085 feet, that's about a quarter of a mile!

Does this make me a "Pumpkin Hacker"?
