Saw this on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=27970&item=3010257616&rd=1

I wonder if this thing is any good at running Linux?

Wow, interesting first post. You registered 16 minutes before plunking down an auction URL. If I was a suspicious person I would think you are the seller.

Or maybe he had a question about it so he signed up at a place where he could ask it?

Considering the auction plainly lists Linux as one of the OS's I'd have to agree with Scooter.

or you could simply type aquapad linux into google where the very first result out of 986 looks like this

FIC Midori Linux AquaPad - Extensive Review - TransmetaZone.com
... FIC Midori Linux AquaPad - Extensive Review Date: Tuesday February 05,
2002. ... FIC Midori Linux AquaPad - Extensive Review Features & Specs. ...
www.transmetazone.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=958 - 23k - Cached - Similar pages

I don't come to this website looking for answers to such a general question. I usually find it much more technically oriented fortunately

sorry, my suspicions remain

I signed up specifically to ask the question, yes. I am not the seller, I was just looking for more info on the best operating system for this product. I did do a couple searches but seemed to find contradictory opinions. The forum at www.aquapad.org seems inactive. I apologize if this post broke any forum rules or caused a problem, please feel free to delete it. Thanks

You could have asked the same question without posting the eBay link. If you were considering purchasing that unit it would make zero sense to call attention to it since all you're doing is attracting potential buyers driving up the price. I think anyone can draw the same conclusion.

As far as the forums on aquapad.org they are as active as some here. Posts in Feb and late Jan to a forum that supports what is likely a niche product is not uncommon. There's even one that tells you how to convert Win2000 to Midori Linux.

Cheers!

HomerSimpson-

You did not break any rules, well not really- many people post links... that is how we find out about neat stuff... I do not suspect you are a seller. I hope we can answer more questions for you in the future with less suspicion. Welcome aboard the Linux-hacker board.

As for answering your question, the aquapad is supposed to be designed with Linux in mind. FIC actually touted it as a Linux Pad. Since it is a Transmeta TM5600 500MHz it should run Midori Linux without a problem but you may wish to contact FIC directly (I have found that hard to do).

In regard to posting a link to an item which is currently being bid on... it may drive up the price but my experience is that the majority of the people on this board wont spend more than $300 for such an item. ;)

BTW, did you get the pad?
