hrmmm...wonder where they got the ideas.....if they are making it so "it can no longer be modified as in reports"...it would kind of take the whole point out of the page.....don't go there...unless u want a job for ~3-5 weeks...by then they should bottom out.....what's it up to??? 13 a share?
don't even bother going to the page...don't think u would get much out of flash with there ghost effect prone lcd...
oh well..no one can modify it anyway because they can face federal prosecution for modifying it

It seems as though Netpliance is treading water by trying to get some free engineering from the open source community. They are going to throw another few thousand dollars worth of equipment into this 'developers corner' in the hopes that someone will come up with a really bright idea that will get some new profit mechanism. The is a really good move for them. How do you get 25 people (lets say they only get 25 good people) to spend their own time and effort and money to develop your product? It really is free for them.
I see a conflict of interest here with the open source community and Netpliance. Netpliance will make money by having a unique product, one with capabilities that the competition does not have. With open source developments being made, anyone can start up their own net appliance company and start competing. My guess is that Netpliance will make you sign an NDA and agree to give them and ONLY them your developments. So the true hard core open sourcers won't be interested. But these are the very people that Netpliance wants. What may happen is that Netpliance will be able to claim that they embraced the "hacker community." However, they won't be able to embrace the open source community, which has a large overlap with the "hacker community" in philosophy as well as membership.

Sign up, then send them Linux that fits in the sandisk. You did your job!
Those guys will never use open source, they hate it. Look at the way they are *trying* to close the few ways to get into QNX.
It's a april joke that might last into june.
