I did a search but didn't find any threads on this little device from Hauppuage. List is $99, it runs linux, and there is some active hacking going on. The hardware seems fairly nice, the OS has been opensourced, and there's a good amount of info on the web.
There should be a lot of good uses people can come up with to for this to take it beyond the normal device that it is and turn it into something even more useful.
there's just one thing on the hardware that folks i think are still unsure of...there's some solder pads with space around it that seems likely that it is for PCMCIA...would be pretty cool to be able to add a wireless card or the like to it...any ideas?
Circuit City has Revision "D1" of the MVP on sale for $99 plus a $20 and a $10 rebate, for a net price after rebates of $70. Sale started today, Sunday, 1/18/2004.
a user has added a serial port and gained console access and discovered a bootloader...there are solder pads for what appears to be a PCMCIA carriage...who's going to be the first to hack that?
