Nothing earthshaking to report,

Little spendy, Appears to be available only at radioshack in the US. Saw it in Tommorrows (Sunday newspaper)sale flier.
Hmm wonder if it would fit under my carseat. Appears to be dc powered? Lots of free public wireless internet access in my area!

It's powered by Geode, it'd get 0wn3d by a decent Pentium in performance. Also comes with a locked-in Windows CE, that you appearently can't install apps too. Though, now that it's a sane $140, instead of $300, might be worthwhile pick one up to play with.

Also, it's available to a variety of countries, and was orginally targeted at Latin and Indian nations. http://www.engadget.com/entry/2994556245611989/

I spent about 10 minutes @ the store checking it out.
to answer my own Questions:
Power Supply is an Inline Brick, 12VDC @ 3.3amp
Ethernet is done with USB adaptor.
Installed OS maxs out @ 1024 X 768
somewhere I read USB is 1.1 not USB2
it only reported around 75meg of RAM, Video was using the rest ?

If / When it drops below $100 without ISP, I will get 1.
Till then I will wait...........

The only upside of these things will be that they've got the familiar Geode device drivers- and a 66MHz FSB instead of the hopelessly crippled 33MHz one that the GX1 and prior series Geodes were saddled with. This means that they will probably have a performance comparable to an AMD K6-3 450 or so, depending on what they may have done to improve the overall performance of the Core itself. Now, this is an improvement of sorts, but it's definitely nothing to write home about- VIA's stuff and AMD's LX and NX Geodes are much more impressive devices by far. For $100 or so, it's something worth tinkering with, definitely- but it's NOT worth the $200 or so they're asking for it retail; as always, someone thinks they can make a buck off of people this way- never mind that all one has to do is waltz down to Fry's or someplace similar and get a full PC for the same price.

Do any of you guys know anything about winCE?

I have been able to copy a AMD PIC drive to a larger one using ghost and still have it boot up.

Apparently the bios looks for certain things on the drive, otherwise it restores it to virgin state from the "hidden partition" (There are three, system, data, and the hidden one).

I know very little about winCE, but I'd like to get Damn small linux or maybe even win98 on this to use as a slow PC, -- Heck even if wer could make it so you could use your own apps on the WinCE it would probably be ok.

I'll say one thing, this does(seem to) run FAST. However I tried upping the ram and it will run but only sees the first 128 meg.

BTW it also have a 20 pin unpopulated port on the mobo and what appears to be a JTAG. they are labeled 5v ground RX TX.

just some info, since AMD killed of the geode line a few weeks back, they also killed off their PIC division. they went to great lengths to prevent anything other than winblows running on the PIC. however, the OLPC is based on a similiar design, and they are using linuxbios for the OLPC, so its reasonable to assume with some tweaking you probably could get linuxbios to replace the bios on the PIC.
