Questions at 200 is getting too long. Please use this thread to focus on problems and hopefully solutions the new challenge keys. This can include a clear step-by-step method that can reset cameras to LaMSSMaL. Also include any discoveries on how to accomplish old 6410 SW1 short without a SW1.

I have cut and pasted teslafreak's reset procedure along with 2 confirmations. This seems to be an easy solution to new CVS T30 cameras that have been assigned different challenge keys.

teslafreak repost:
ive reset my reds and figured how mine were done
i installed liusb and ifranview with foxz2 driver modded the inf file
installed camera "coumputer found the device and then i clicked on device manager
and removed the camera from the hardware list
unplugged camera and found the camera was reset
i have repeated this to my other red and it was repeatable
you may try this to reset your cam and use the reset key in pv2tool
my cameras were cvs 6510's with a little luck the bug may still work
i think leaving the cam plugged up wile uninstalling the driver does it

billw repost:
This discovery brought to you by Teslafreak... his procedure to reset a CVS Red camera to LAMSSMAL follows. It appears to be quick, easy, and repeatable.

- installed liusb and ifranview with foxz2 driver
- modded the inf file [so it includes a device with PID 27]
- installed camera [pointing installer to foxz2]
- clicked on device manager and removed the camera from the hardware list
- unplugged camera and found the camera was reset

Mehoff repost:
Thanks to teslafreak I was able to reset mine also. Then PV2Tool unlocked with the reset key.

Please consider using a MD5Sum utility such as MD5Summer to get a checksum
for the firmware files so that we can make some sense of the various versions
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/md5summer/md5v12005.zip?download

Here is what I have come up with for my red CVS cameras:

The patched files have the 3 byte change provided by Morcheeba
Address $6910 from $01 to $02 Sets the default mode to communications-enabled
Address $6AF4 from $27 to $24 Change PID to $24 (Foxz2)
Address $6B30 from $30 to $32 Update Checksum

For a "Reset" camera:
ccb952eb7f6f2f09781e27b721b9b8c4 FIRMWARE_RED.BIN
5b6bd7b07c7780f178d19728be3d9883 FIRMWARE_RED_PATCHED.BIN

For a new camera:
999605c3f4ae4e94af89de5b1c78c052 FIRMWARE_VIRGIN_RED.BIN
cbad7f874a7d8819c830c448209cbef5 FIRMWARE_VIRGIN_RED_PATCHED.BIN

There are many differences between the new and cleared firmware.bin files.

* I think there might be a correlation between the New/Reset Firmawre.bin
and the images that are returned with a blue hue when using the Che-ez! Foxz drivers.

forkboy, please consider my one instruction zap (e101 -> e002) in your new release. a single block change with same checksum lowers risk.
Blue hue is unrelated - problem exists in unreset t2f & t30. radioshack has posted flatfoto2 driver as indicated in another thread.

Just a quick note - the online Flatfoto 2 driver only appears to include a stub driver. Twain support appears to have been left out.

at work using palm phone - guessing that stub may replace stub in flatfoto 1.3 which has twain?

brite_eye, I thought of that and tried that too. No go - the twain component from 1.3 complains that it can't find a flatfoto camera when you use the flatfoto 2 driver.

I cracked open the CAB files and took a look at the recently
posted FlatFoto 2 and Che-ez Foxz3 drivers.

The FlatFoto 2 package only contains a USBSCAN.SYS and .inf
file. USBSCAN.SYS is the low-level piece for talking to a scanner
or still-image device via USB - I think it needs higher-level
driver files for a complete solution. So, this may just be a
"surgical" bug-fix release for the FlatFoto 2. Here's a diagram
of the things that are usually involved:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/still/hh/still/stillimg_48490ca5-010a-48d9-abb7-51e87f3cbc18.xml.asp

From looking at the drivers, the Che-ez Foxz3 is not based on
SMaL chips - this was my suspicion earlier. Looks like it's based
on SunPlus chips. So, this won't help us with SMaL puzzles.

Forkboy, I've put my MD5 sums here below.

Others, I'm re-requesting on behalf of forkboy that we all take some time out and post our MD5 sums here, so we can provide forkboy with the info he needs.

Whatever format you use, please including Reset-status and origin of camera as well, as this is something that has sometimes been missing from the success and failures forums. Forkboy, please add a note if there's any other information you need from us.

Note that my reset Red CVS md5sum matches ForkBoy's Virgin Red up above. I do not believe a reset causes any firmware changes. I also have blue firmware that is the same before and after a LaMSSMaL reset. ForkBoy - Your Virgin appears 2B a 2B (vulcan pinch). Is your reset red also a 2B? If so does it look like it may have been recycled? Can't resist Shakespeare "2B or not 2B that is the question" (Enjoyed Merchant of Venice this weekend).
