Did you try this?

Step 5: Boot and Config the Linux
Insert the CF card into the IA-1. Power on the IA-1.
LILO boot: prompt appears.
Type 'hdb single'. This boots linux to single user mode, so the root password can be reset.
After it boots, remount the filesystem as rw because if it is read-only when boots (to save rw cycles on the CF card). Type 'mount -o remount,rw /'.
'passwd root' to change root password.
'shutdown -r now' to reboot the IA-1.
Login as root.

How far have you gotten with jailbait?

I have one of these and would like to get jailbait up and running, but don't have the time..

If you can get the image working, I'd like to have a copy, if you don't mind!

Thanks.

Paul

If you are hving problems with the video driver for X, check here, it might help:

I think the video card is integrated in the processor - its a National Semiconductor Geode, which used to belong to Cyrix called the mediaGX - sound and video were embedded in the processor.

The is a driver for X86

http://www.xfree86.org/4.3.0/cyrix.4.html

Description
cyrix is an XFree86 driver for the Cyrix MediaGX (now Natsemi Geode) series of processors when using the built in video.
Supported Hardware
The cyrix driver supports the MediaGX, MediaGXi and MediaGXm processors, as well as the Natsemi 'Geode' branded processors. It supports the CS5510, CS5520, CS5530 and CS5530A companion chips. The driver supports 4, 8, 15 and 16 bit deep displays with video compression and acceleration.
The MediaGX run length compresses its shared framebuffer, for the best performance on a MediaGX machine pick backgrounds that compress well horizonally.

Configuration Details
Please refer to XF86Config(5) for general configuration details. This section only covers configuration details specific to this driver.

etc....

I have an updated version of Jailbait that is compatible with the Emachines MSN companion.
After a long while of working on it I am pleased to announce that it is now available on my site.

Get the image (AND DOLLY) here! http://www.theratshack.net/download/emachines.tar
Here's a short list of what works:
USB support
USB-storage support
USB network support. (pegasus only, i can make other modules available, I have them precompiled elsewhere)
the SOUND works.. (bout damn friggin time)
plus a handful of small changes to initscripts and file locations.

Here's what still doesn't work but might later on:
USB-input (usb keyboards, mice, etc..)
X still is non operable.
smbfs still not working.
more script repairs need to be done.

I am also thinking of splitting the project into workstation and server side applications, Server will have httpd but not X for example and the workstation will have X but not httpd... Any thoughts on whether or not I should do this?

Have fun and please don't melt my server too badly.. :)
