some images are posted on my ftp for the gallantweb server. I created a stock e-smith 5.5 image running on gw500 (600mhz machine) which seems to work although I didnt do much testing on it.

after restoring the image U/P is admin, dhcp is enabled so just plug into the pci card eth1 (lan) and get an ip then browse/telnet/ssh to the server for reconfiguration. BTW the builtin eth0 intel chipset is set to be the wan port and dhcp is enabled on that too.

ftp.empowwwer.com

please try to restrict dloads to late night/early am hours EST as this will be killing my personal bandwidth.

yes. I put three images of the original hard drive up on
ftp://ftp.empowwwer.com

1) a Norton Ghost image
2) an Acronis TrueImage image
3) an iso of a bootable cd with the Ghost image

the images are from my unmodified 633Mhz Gallant.

Has anyone looked into using the GallatWeb system restore app/instrution to install something other than the gallantweb image?

I m just wondering if you specified something other than the gallantweb.tar.gz you could get the gw500 to install somthing else.

I have been having a look at the system restore file on the GallantWeb cd. It is just a straight tar file. The thing is its contents don't make up the full contents of what is currently on my GW500.

Does anyone here have any experience with network installing. I am imagining the GallantWeb system restore app on the CD works just like a image server (perhaps with a dhcp server to catch the GW500 when it boots)

I would really like to network install a basic debian install on my GW500, something with the lan interface up on a specified ip and be running sshd so I could log in and pad out the install without ever connecting a keyboard or monitor to the GW500.

Could anyone help me with that? I have a 633mhz unit btw, the 900 and the 633 seem to be radically different hardware wise.
