Curently I am running Win98 first edition. I am going to upgrade to Win 2k server as soon as I get the disk. I am using my unit as an internet gateway/server with 2 hdds mirrored.

Check out the drivers post to get windows drivers. I know these are good for the Cel 633 but not sure about the 900. Someone said the motherboard is different between the 2. If it uses the Intel 810 chipset, the drivers should work though.

Can the Gallant boot from a USB device, like a USB cdrom cdrom or disk ?

Am using Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Working like a charm to
provide all sorts of nice services for my network...

-DHCP
-File sharing
-Printer Sharing
-Shoutcast
-FTP
-Internet Gateway

All of this, with the hardware it came with. Still
waiting on some extra cash to upgrade the memory
(Just got laid-off).

This thing is quite the champ!

I'm running redhat 7.3. tried 8.0 initially but got a memory error of some sort when it tried to copy the first files after i chose the config (i.e everything, workstation, etc). ummm, perhaps 64mb isn't enough? tried a few configurations with no luck then i tried valhalla (rh 7.3). jacked the thing up to 256mb and got the lcd screen to work successfully with dcarr's drivers. buttons don't work, don't know if he is planning to add support. i'm just happy to see the lcd screen working.. eheh... i have a celeron 800 i just might pop in. does anyone know if the GW500 will take newer "8 chip" 256 pc-133?

Don't waste your time trying to use the new PC133 sticks. I tried PNY, K Byte and Kingston, none of them worked. The 810 motherboard does not accept PC133, the ram isn't compatible. You have to get sticks that are PC 100 only.

DS: Thanks. I was thinking PC-133 wasn't going to work. Just haven't tried it yet. I bet it has to do with the single-sided 8 chip Hynix memory modules people are using (Kingston, KByte, etc). The only thing is that 256mb of PC-100 is a bit expensive nowadays. ;{ Haven't changed the processor yet. Wondering what else I can do with it.
