Most people I've seen have setup a version of Windows or Redhat on their GallantWEB. Has anyone tried other operating systems, like FreeBSD? What has everyone been tinkering with!?
Run's like a beauty on Gentoo. I'm considering to pick another one up and either throw FreeBSD or OpenBSD on it. These machines are awesome, compact, small and perfect for what I need to do. I'm in the process of also writing a nice lcd daemon for this thing, I got the control codes so it's just a matter of time. I'll post it here once I get it done ;)

Gentoo... Hmmmm. It's funny, it'll only be a matter of time until I try out installing more stuff on it. ;} Perhaps I'll even try to get Gentoo on it. You're right, it's small and very flexible. I just recently dropped in a GeForce4 MX440 with TV-Out and 256mb pny pc-133 (older ones with the PNY chips). This thing jams for a Celeron633..ehehe. Now if I can only get Quake3 linux working right. Also... If I can only get the front buttons to do something.. anything. Things will be perfect. ;} Maybe have each button act as a programmable hotkey of some sort. Doesn't have to do what default GallantWeb menu with ping does. Would be cool if I could have the keys do play stop prev.track next.track in some Linux mp3 player. Hehehe. Just dreaming. Ummmm.. haven't installed FreeBSD5 yet. Gotta redownload the 1st CD. Perhaps very soon.
