Using Babel Fish, and some patience. I created an account on a spanish forum that has a section about the dot.

(I can case others try to create an account, I had to contact the Admin., who didn't speak english, since they system didn't send an activation email. What a pain it was!!! If you have the same problem, email the admin., and tell him your id and email.)

There are some good threads about updating the bios, and who else knows. Also, ideefixe emailed me today an updated bios, I'll post that to the site shortly.

Are you sure it needs a new bios, jsmmd? In the thread "Installation Celeron 733" on the Spanish forum fjbs70 says the stock BIOS recognized the 733 and extra memory. Also further down it's pointed out that the 256MB memory stick needs to be 8-chips-per-side, kinda like the iopener needs.

You may be right. I'm not sure what bios version they ship with. I'll know in about 12-16 hours hopefully. :)

as far as bios verion goes I was not able to find out today. I seem to be having the same problem as many others on the Spanish board are having. Hitting F2 is not bringing me into the Bios. Not sure why. Tried many combinations and searched the msg board for a soultion but it seems that some people have the problem and some don't. The only answer I saw was to try a different keyboard. Might have to do that today.

hi,I am a spanish guy writing this #### with a dot station running win98SE,there´s a jumper in the main board that let you go in the bios.I did´t have that problem.i only needed to hit F2 but some people had that problem.
Anothe thing:Spanish people are buying "modified" Dot Stations the bios have been modified to load another OS if you buy original stations you´ll have lot of problems to change the OS.we buy it aproxx. for 100€ and it comes with a preinstalation of win xp but mos of us have installed anotner os like Me 98 or 2000 cos it fits better to the machine.
Yo change the OS most of us have deassembled the dot and put the hard disk into another computer, but some people has done it with a external usb cd rom drive.
have a look at he splash screen,if it´s a modified dot station it should look in blue and say something like intel desktop board.
Any questions write to: blackstreet@lycos.es and i´ll try to answer. Use plain language please.as you see my english is not very good.

I've added more pictures. There are several distinct differences between this model and the one our spanish friends have.

I also took a movie of the post and bootup process. If you yank the harddrive, the post will loop, right after it checks for the drive, so at about 8-9 seconds. Seconds in the video don't correspond to boot up time.

on the site update you say that you think that you remember the cursor moving to the bottom being an expoitable weakness. When I was trying to get into the bios I tried F1, F2, and DEL back and forth. a couple of times I was able to type where the cursor moved to. I was only able to type for about 2 sec before the boot procedure continued. So I think you might be right as far as this being a way in maybe. Just a thought.

I'm a web developer / project manager during the day, (not a designer, I think the site looks questionable).

That being said, I had planned to buy dotstation.com, but someone in CA used SnapNames to buy it the moment it was released.
(Since it's public info. who bought it I called and kindly asked if they had a direct use for it cause I was interested in buying it.) She FREAKED out, asking how I got her number, why I was asking. They have a nice client base, one of them must be making a "dotstation" or similary named product. Interesting....

Anyway...I registered http://dotstation.org/ , it will redirect to the "website" I have setup on linux-hacker.net.

Just a FYI.
