| When I modified my Tiger.Dot I went to:www.rickadee.net/~zephyrus/dot/cdrom.html This was a good site,as it had the pictures, but it didnt mention in the pictures, that you have to also connect power to the cd-rom drive along with that ide ribbon cable,on the right side of that picture, that white connector, with the top on it you purchase a 3.5" drive power converter cable, and a drive power Y cable. After you connect that Foxcomm cable to the cd-rom board, the other end is connected to the secondary ide on the MoBo,this needs to be a special shreaded cable,an ultra ATA/33 slimline adapter cable.I used the one in my retail box,but cut it shorter,as it was to long,it should be the same length as the Foxcomm cable for the hard drive,Intel has length requirements for the ribbon cable being installed. After this is installed, you have to take out that hard drive power cable, and use that power port on the top.You then connect one side of the 3.5" drive converter cable to the connector on the white cd-rom connector, the other end is connected into the Y cable, you then connect the other end into the hard drive, then the remaining end into the top power port. Those other connectors on the cd-rom board are not used. Then when you put the shelf back, and the top cover, and screw it all back together.I used 3M heavy duty mounting squares, these can be purchased in any office supply store, there sticky on both sides.I placed one on each corner of that shelf, and with a marker drew an outline of the square.I then took off the top paper on each square, and pluged in my drive, and carefully pressed the drive down on the squares, this holds the cd-rom drive very nice on the shelf. You can also remove the drive if need be,by using a sharp knife, and slice between the shelf, and the drive to remove it if you have to.Then clean up the shelf, and place new ones on those outlines you drew.I also added some ventalation holes,I placed these on the back,as the Dot sucks air from the back of the unit, then blows it out of the top of the box into the unit, the the top fan blows it out of the top of the Dot,so your holes need to be added on the back, and to the top cover near the transformer. This will create better circulation. | |
