| After I had my Tiger.Dot upgraded,I had to do setup in the BIOS setup unility. To enter this press F2 while the Dot.Station is booting up.When you get to the setup utility there are six sections.Main/Advanced/Security/Power/Boot/Exit.In the main section the bios version, processor type, processor speed, system bus freqency, cache ram, total memory are all displayed, these cant be adjusted. The lanuage, processor serial number(enabled),and time/date can be.The Advanced page has extended configeration(not used),root configeration-plug and play o/s (Yes)reset conf data (No) numlock(on) Peripheral configeration-serial port A(Enabled)Base I/O address(3F8)Interrupt (IRQ4)Audio Device (Enabled)Lan Device (Enabled)Legacy USB Support(Enabled)IDE configeration-IDE controller(Both)Hard disk pre delay (Disabled)Primary IDE Master(Samsung SV1021H)Primary IDE slave (not installed)Secondary IDE Master(SR242S)Secondary IDE slave(not installed)Event log configeration-Event log(space available)Event log validity (Valid)View event log Clear all event log(No)Event logging(Enabled)Mark events as read Video configeration-Primary video adapter(AGP)The Security page has Supervisor password is(Not installed)User password is(Not installed)Set supervisor password, set user password skip these two. Then you have the power page ACPI suspend state(S1 state)Then the Boot page Quite boot(Enabled)Quick boot(Enabled)Scan user flash area(Disabled)After power failure(Last State)On PME(Stay off)1st boot device(ATAPI CD-rom)2nd boot device(IDE-HDD)3rd boot device(Disabled)IDE configeration-primary masterIDE(1st ide)Primary slaveIDE(2nd IDE)Secondary MasterIDE (3rd IDE)Secondary slave IDE (4th IDE)Then the Exit page you have three choices Exit save changes/Exit discard changes/Load setup defaults/Load custom defaults/Save custom defaults/save custom defaults/Discard changes. You want to select Exit setup save changes, then click Yes.The unit will then reboot and power back up.Using the jumper and placing it on configure will only add 1 section Maintenance. With the Dot on configure with the jumper it will go right to the BIOS setup, you dont need to do the F2.With the jumper you still cant change any processor or bus speeds. With maintenance page you have Clear all passwords Clear BIS (Boot Integrety service) credentals Extended configeration(Default) Memory control-SDRAM auto-configure(Auto)CAS# latency(Auto)SDRAM ras# to cas# delay(Auto)SDRAM ras# precharge(Auto) CPU information-CPU micro code update rev (None loaded)CPU stepping signature(depending on your processor speed). If you change any of these you have to go to the Exit page to save these changes. The unit will then tell you to set the jumper back to normal, and turn the unit back on for normal operation.I would not use the recover mode of the jumper (take it off completly) unless you need to recover the BIOS,as you need a recovery diskette with software to do this, you cant use the monitor to do this because of power constrants, you have to listen to beeps. 2 to begin, and 2 to end,if you get a series of beeps the recovery has failed, and needs to be attempted again. | |
