CC's team of monkeys
A funny little story

New MessageCC's team of monkeys (modified 0 times) Dee's Troy
So I'm up at my local CC with one of my friends that's an employee up there and I start poking around on the one laptop with no screensaver password. I say to my friend that I could make it so the computer won't boot up again simply by sticking it into an infinite loop in the autoexec.bat. He says, "Do it!" I start typing stuff in, but I end up hitting the Fn key and turning on the num lock and only manage to create an autoexec.bat on the desktop before one of the CC employees comes up and asks if I need any help. I mutter something and tell him no and walk off. Pretty soon the employee and one of his buddies is punching away at the laptop trying to figure out what I did to the thing. A couple of minutes later, there are now 3 employees and a manager all in front of the same laptop still trying to figure out what I did to their precious machine. 10 minutes and the manager has left, but the 3 employees remain, still working away at the laptop. Funny thing is, I never actually did anything to it, so they're all searching for nothing.

Just thought I'd share that with you all

Radio Snack's even worse. A few years back I was stuck in Ohio for 2 weeks and was pretty bored so I wandered into the Radio Snack, found an unlocked system, and renamed the Command.com to something like command.tmp then left. Next day, sure enough, the system was sitting there with a black screen, "Missing Operating System...". I kept going back every few days and saw the same thing, until finally they replaced it with a new system. I should have gone back and said, "I can fix that for you, for a nominal charge, of course!"

back in the old 8 bit days when computers were sold in every major store in a mall, i would find a quiet machine that ran basic, and make a small program that waited about 3 minutes and then start flashing the screen and making siren noises.

Oh, yeah, real mature, like the kiddies who set all the alarm clocks in a department store to the same time.

Bet it was fun, though. :P

I made a TV scrambler in high school ('70s) and thought it was hilarious to go to Radio Shack (or any dept. store with TV's), nonchalantly reach my hand in my coat pocket and instantly scramble all the TV's. Of course, that's back when 'Laugh In' was funny too.
