Connecting to home linux server

Can someone please inform me on what I need to do to access my email account on my home server. Does the mailstation us PPP with PAP or some other means to connect to a server.
I have the following:

CIDCO MODEL DET1
(Black body)
Version: 2.55Y

Server:
Linux SME server with dial-up access
Comcast Cable for internet access

I can get the mailstation to dial into the server but it fails on authentication of the user. I have the following in setup:

User Name: retrograham
Dial-Up No: 123-456-7890
E-mail Address: retrograham@myserver.com
E-mail Password: ********
POP3 Server: mail.myserver.com
SMTP Server: mail.myserver.com
ISP Account: retrograham
ISP Password: ********
Primary DNS: 192.168.100.1 << myserver.com
Reply-To: retrograham@myserver.com

The email password and the ISP password are the same.
