So can a mailstation run linux? If so, why hasn't anybody made it do so yet? People say all they need is the processor spec but wouldn't you still have to figure out how to write the flash?
It beyond my level of knowledge of how to make it actually happen, but reading through the posts makes me believe that you can write to the flash in two ways.
Sorry, I must be in a different universe, because I don't see what you mentioned on any of those pages. Anyway, if people elsewhere on this board are correct in claiming it is a Z80, why has no one hacked it?

Mailstation $100 Challenge, discussion between zylonbane and programmer. Though
they seemed to have lost intrest. Their discussion is how to change a few locked variables so that one is not stuck with only the one ISP. The easier way has been to buy an emessage machine instead which comes unlocked.
The Parellel port is suggested by the packaging of the box, and I'd also think difference in various versions. But no, I don't think that anyone has taken the time to make it work.
