It's possible that a reputable mail-order company (read TigerDirect) may be selling these babies for either $19.99 or $24.99 soon.

But, will anyone buy them?

I'm actually hesitant to mention this because I may want to go back and get more, but justdeals.com currently has a 19.99 refurb white emessage mailstation deal, with a 10 dollar flat rate shipping (10 per order, no matter size). The two that I got were in good condition. One was new, with all the branding stripped off except a barcode and a southern bell logo. The other had someone's writings on the back of the manual, and a few smudges on the keyboard. That was branded Pacific Bell. Both were completely ISP agnostic. The units seemed nice and fresh and I must say that it shipped in the most professionally packed container I have seen yet.

In a way I'm dissappointed that it wasn't the black, highly branded ISP specific MIVO or something... It already does everything I want it to (except functioning as a telnet terminal). What's to hack? So really, I've grown too fond of it to take a soldering iron to the poor little guy, and there is no reason to play around with e-mail catalyzed configuration settings, as I can set those from the user setup screen.

I can't cut it open... It's too damn cute!

They are running five dutch auctions for ten mailstations at 14.99. (dutch = order one or all or some) They always list the auction under the title

CIDCO MAILSTATION EMESSAGE UNIT NEW IN BOX!

Interestingly, I just got mine today. It is a black mailstation that is ISP agnostic. It works fine with earthlink, but informs me that there have been no yahoo information updates. It also convieniently shipped with pre-installed dead batteries.

Are these the converted remnants of the changeover to mivo? Are our mailstations going to the history books soon?

I'll investigate the little box more when I get back from Northern California on Monday.
