What kind of LCD display is used in the Mailstation? Does anyone have the mfg info or pinouts for it? Is there a controller built in, or is it elsewhere inside the Mailstation?

Thinking of pulling the LCD panel out?? I don't know the brand, but the controller functions are on the single board rather than located with the display. A ribbon cable (28 wires) attaches to some sort of flat ribbon connector on the back side of the single board. There are no chips physically with the LCD panel, (which tilts.
My eyes can't see for sure but it looks like half the traces go to a chip with the markings, EliteMT LP621024DM-70LL, and the other half go to a even smaller chip with the markings 74HC2450 C5194me (Can't read that one almost at all.)
What would you use the LCD for?

just for kicks...
I've read sites talking about building MP3 players... put in the trunk... ie: just a computer... some have LCD screens near the dash, to read/change directories...
How far out is something like this? with the mailstation... ? this is WAY beyond my abilities, btw... :)
