Has anyone tried a suggestion made months ago, that using the Trancell Wireless service you might be able to do web surfing?

The site is:
http://www.trancell.com

I was thinking of setting up my dads unit for this use if anyone tried it and it worked.

What device to I set in the profile. Pocketmail. PC. PDA? Mailstation is not an option? Does it matter to the service what device I say I use?

The trancel setup is too cumbersome to be called surfing, but its still worthwhile setting up.

Joke of the day is nice.
Sport headlines, weather, etc is good.
Anything that is a short paragraph of news regularrly placed somewhere on web works well.

But surfing, no it doesn't actually surf because the mailstation has to hang up and dial out again between each communication. After a few tries, you want to go back to a full computer.

My dad never had a real computer so he will not know what he is missing.
I wanted to give him ability to ask for information on topics from yahoo, etc. as well as get weather. I understand there is a way to do this. IT is not as easy as the weather call if you have you profile set up with location info.

Lharri, perhaps, if he, emails you, what he's lookin for, then, you can search, and find it, then, email him the url, etc..
its NOT surfing, but, you Can get plenty of info.. just Learn to use it First, on yer computer, then, explain to him, how to use it
I think, prolly just set it up, as a computer...
