I've looked through the forum postings, but I've been unable to find any information about the Vtech postbox mailstation, or more specifically, if it can be hacked. I've purchased a few Mivo 100's from eBay and have no issues at all, the Fn-Shift-T trick works flawlessly, but I wonder if the same thing will work on the vtech.

More information on the Vtech postbox at these urls:

Thanks for your help.

Bad form to reply to myself, but I seem to have found sort of a Debug Menu in the Vtech Postbox. If you hold Shift+T and turn the power on, you will get a menu that looks like this:

***********************************

System Test
1. Flash Erase
2. Upgrade by Card

S/N: ----------
Version 5.31DL 16:25 2001/12/20

*************************************

Note that where it says S/N there is no number, there are actually dashes. When you go to Option 1 (Flash Erase) it again gives you 2 options:

A Internal Flash Memory Check
B External Flash Memory Check

When the Internal Flash check is selected, the system seems to perform a test on itself, checking some sectors of the flash, and then doing a write test. The external flash memory check yields no results except that the tests failed, assumingly because there is nothing external plugged in, although on the left side there appears to be a slot where an expansion module could be plugged in. The upgrade by card option also yields no results, as there doesn't seem to be a "card" anywhere.

Hope this information helps someone, I'm trying to figure out how to use this machine without having to pay for their dialup service.

Anyone ever figure these things out? I have 2 collecting dust and wonder if they are worth cracking open?

Thanks,
