| It looks like they have dried up for now. I'm thinking of selling mine or trading. I can't use my mini-pci Lucent wireless card with it. It has a PCI slot built in instead of a mini pci. The beauty of this unit is that is uses a Disk On Module instead of a Disk On Chip. The DOM is an IDE device, so all I had to do was unplug the DOM and plug in a hard drive. I had it up and running 98SE in less than an hour. It also handled a 256mb PC100 SO-DIMM without a problem (It comes with a 64). It also has an empty CF slot that is a secondary IDE. Out of the box, the unit runs fine with the QNX installed. I plugged in my LAN cable (LAN is built in), powered up the unit and the unit automatically detected my lan connection and I was on the web. I didn't think much of the software on the DOM, but at least it is silent and loads pages pretty quickly. There are 2 small problems with the unit. I can't find a sound driver to work with win98 and when removing the back cover , I broke off a small piece of the CF slot. The slot still works fine though. Altough, the NetVista is by far the best looking, IMHO, what I think I need is the Gateway Connected appliance, since it has the mini pci. Anybody wanting to trade a Gateway with an IDE header in place, let me know. Also be aware that even though these were advertised with wireless keyboards, they come with a USB keyboard, altough it appears a wireless keyboard is supported. | |
