you could probably reuse the fan, but i wouldn't bother. spend 5$ and get a new one that clips on rather than cements on.

jumper settings are as in the manual on the cd. d1152 tech stuff. 100 mhz bus, 4.5 multiplier. old settings for winchip were 66 mhz bus, 3x multiplier. there are three jumpers for the multiplier (currently 1-2, 2-3, 1-2) setting goes (2-3, 2-3, 2-3 if i remember right), 2 jumpers for bus speed,
currently 1-2, 1-2 should be 2-3, 2-3.

have fun.

Just installed a K6-2 500 MHz Processor on the Scovery. Win98se is up and running just fine. Posting this message from Netscape on it.

New settings for the clock ratio to get 5.0x are:
JP8 1-2
JP9 2-3
JP10 2-3

Other settings same as a K6-2 450 MHz.

For those using a K6-2-550.

The jumper setting for 5.5x are:
JP8 1-2
JP9 1-2
JP10 2-3

My K6-2-500 can post at 550Mhz, but would not boot.

Just trying to get some action on the Scovery section here cause I like it. Can the K6-2+ work on this thing? Are K6-2 prices going up? Where is the best place to get a K6-2 450?

Check pricewatch.com.. I think you can find a k6-2 550Mhz for around $60. Has anyone tried a Celeron in these things? I have a Celeron 400Mhz lying around and my scovery doesn't arrive till later today. Looking at the PDF for FSB and multipliers, it looks like it should be fine. If not, I'll be joining you at pricewatch.com looking for a k6-2. ;)

Got my K6-2 450 to over clock at 550. Couple
days and no problems with Mandrake 7.1
1100 Bogus MIPS.

What is the fastest processor you can install in the Scovery 211? Are you guys installing an AMD K6-2 550mhz in this machine?

My manual says that a K6-2 450mhz is the fastest chip I can install.

Any know for sure?

P.S. - My Scovery 211 came with a K6-2 200 mhz processor.

thanks in advance

Humm.... Look up a few messages in this
thread. Youll see the jumper settings for
500 and 550 MHz.

I would think you can at least go to 250 MHz
or more on your CPU.

My AMD K6-2 450 is running at 550mhz. I just have a crappy P-133 hs/fan so I am waiting for my Golden Orb.
I did buy a 56k modem/soundcard combo on fleabay for $20.....I know they are supposed to be a pain but for the price it is worth a shot and I still have 1 PCI slot open. Does it seem that it gets kinda hot inside the case?
