Having problems

Well I finally got around to trying a K6-2 500 in my scovery, only to find that the machine will not boot (RH7.0 or Flash) when I have another NIC in a PCI slot. This machine is being used for a router. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a K6-3 550 running at 500 with no problems. (Since the scovery doesn't support the 2.3 volt core of the K6 I have to run it at 2.2v, hence the 500mhz clock.) I'm running WinME and I have a hollywoodplus dvd decoder in the top pci slot. Do you have this problem with any other CPU?

I have an AMD 500 in my Scovery with the Hollywood Video card and Montego II sound card.

Works great.

No problems

I tried a K6III-350 in mine.... Linux would hard lock immediately after post.

This happened no matter what speed/voltage combo I tried.

Has anyone upgraded their machine from the winchip to a K6-3 AFTER installing the OS?

This is sort of an old thread; but, I had the Creative DVD Inlay card and it doesn't support all DVD types. So, I switch to a software decoder. Running a K6-2 500, 8X DVD, 128 MB RAM, there's noticeable jerky video. I tried running CacheMaster; but that didn't help. Also running w/o disk caching doesn't seem to help. It worse on WinDVD than PowerDVD.

I tried switching over to a K6-3 and it won't boot. I believe the bios does not support the internal cache. Switching the cache off and the system will boot.

Any ideas?
