2.0V CPU Voltage Jumper Setting
AMD K6/3+

In the pdf manual file, it shows setting of 1.8V and 2.2V for the CPU. Does anybody knows what jumper settings would get 2.0V ? I am getting an AMD K6/3-450+ that requires a cpu core voltage of 2.0V. Thanks.

Alas, there appears to be none. You gotta 2.2V and you gotta 1.8V, you don't gotta 2.0V I'm not sure that you wouldn't have to dig into the mobo and change some of the resistors. 2.2V is pushing a 450+ a bit hard, I'm not sure I'd try it. I just threw in the towel and used k6-500s. The 450+ overclocked with its full speed chache would be wonderful, but I'm not ready to burn out a $50 cpu just to try it quite yet.

a number of folks seem to be able to get the k6-iii+ 450 to go on 1.8 v. you might give it a try. if it doesn't work. o well, you didn't lose your processor, just a little time.

It appears that people do overclock the K6-III+ 450. One enterprising individual OC'd it to over 600 MHz, though with extensive cooling.

It may be that $15 worth of cooling would make it run fine on 2.2v, at least that's what this article implies:

I don't know if the Scovery case can dissapate the heat, though, or if the flip-up cover would interfere with the cooling.

I'm going to try mine at 1.8 and see if it works. If it doesn't I'll try 2.2 and monitor the temperature.

I am still waiting for my K6/3+ to arrive (yes, I am slow). Anyway, I've read somewhere in tomshardware or anantech of 1 way to set the 'between' voltage is to put the jumpers on both higher & lower setting. In this case, it would be to set the jumper for 1.8V and 2.2V to get 2.0V. I don't have any way to measure or confirm this. I will try running it at 1.8V. Worse come to worse, I can set it to 4X which I think will definitely work at 1.8V. I am trying to minimize the power used in this system (79W max P/S rating). Does anybody know how many Watts the mobo consumed (or any good guess?) I am a sucker for small form factor and want to put the ATI-aiw 128 in this baby for video editing. Has anybody try this?

I have a K6-III+ 450 from pcliquidators.com. I put it in my Scovery and I could get to the BIOS but it failed very early on booting Linux (Printed "Loadiing Linux" and one "." and stopped) at both 1.8v and 2.2v, 450 MHz, 100 MHz bus, PC100 memory. I put the same chip into an early V4 I-Opener modded to 2.06v, 4.5*66 and it boots fine. I tried 2.2.18 and 2.4.0 kernels and neither worked.

I measured the voltages using jumper combinations. The results are that you cannot use two (or more) jumpers to get 2.0v at the CPU socket. For example, jumpering at both the 1.8 and 2.2 positions yielded 2.78 volts; all the others were even higer voltages. (I measured at the CPU socket.)

However, I found that replacing the 2.2v shortening plug (jumper) with a 390 ohm resistor did the trick (actually I calculated the required additional resistance based on the previous measurements.)

On my system, jumpering with 390 ohms gets me 2.004 volts as measured by my voltmeter.
