Everyones various uses for their I-openers...
How does everyone use their i-openers?

Ok, Im interested to see how everyone has put their i-openers to use. Especially in their cars (i may do so myself). Everyone post your pics of you i-openers and the various things you've done with them. The winner gets... recognition? :). Im even thinking of putting together a page with a weekly winner or something.

I have mine mounted in the bathroom, across from the toilet bowl. In conjunction with a cheapo Bell Packard remote, it makes a fine porn viewing center.

I use it mainly to pull jpg's off my server. Soon I will install software to view video's also.

Bathroom... Porn...

FAR more information than I needed to know.

Anyway, I've got mine set up with win98 (winchip2, stock 32 megs) with an audio out and audio in hack.

I've got it set for both a networked MP3 player and free long distance phone (via yahoo messenger and a headset mic/headphone combo).

I've even got a simple DOS batch file that creates and updates *.m3u files based on date and time of year (for adding xmas music to the play lists). Gotta love gotta love find/errorlevel... heh

So I can surf the internet from work, not using the company's 'big brother' network. It's just a local call... hehehehe

i'm assuming he's using them as realtime video. This thought has crossed my mind for my "car"-opener as well (assuming I can get some for cheap and mount them out of the way). Did you happen to get in on the $9.99 Webcam from Circuit City about a month ago? I'd be interested in pics.

They Are Wired to the I-opener through USB, I am using some Generic Logitech
Software for viewing, Its Kinda a High Tech Curb Feeler, Lets say I am
Pulling into a tight spot, Fire up the Webcam and instantly I have a great
"Bumper" view of my car to make sure there is room, Also its just fun (not
safe) cruisin around watching the road from that angle, I am not saving the
videos or anything so size is not an issue, I was just board at the time and
thought it would be fun, If you had a good enough cam and monitor you
probably could just drive using the screen as the windshield!!. One of My
main hobbies is my vehicle so This things may not be usefull but they sure
are fun, also people think your some kind of a computer genious when they
hop in and you have Mp3's going, gps, and then multiple camera angles. I
plan on having a site up very soon. I would love to show my car off a
little, I am pushing around 2000 watts to an all rockford fosgate and
eclipse Audio system in a mint 85 Irocz. You could also mount one inside for
that Up-Skirt Cam !! J/K. ASPGuy - That would be fun If you could stream
the video out to a website, Is it possible if I was Online in the car ?

I've been collecting fried I-Openers off E-Bay, and fixing them up as door-stops.....gonna give them out as xmas presants. They're not really heavy enough though. Here's how to fix that: Take your fried I-Opener, lay it face-down, open the ram door. Then melt all the solder you won't need anymore in a large pot....carefully pour it in the ram door......about 8 lbs of solder is enough. A nice red bow....perfect xmas door-stop.

Yeah, or maybe you could take out the LCD, dress up the case a little, and have one heck of a nice lookin' i-picture frame, for that door that is being i-stopped....

Lowprofile2000, sounds like a nice ride.
Hypothetical idea: Have your IO recording the video all the time, but only archiving the last, say, 2 minutes. Then bring in an input from the airbag circuit that would halt the IO from recording, and voila -- courtroom evidence! hehehe
(on my mind because I was rear ended two weeks ago)

I like That Idea, The Camera could also Work Nicely For Security, I could have the camera Start Recording When it senses Motion and Catch the Person Stealing My car and or Accessories, Of course this would require a Hidden Drive somewhere that could not be stolen, It all Boils down to needing Fast wireless Internet, Then I could Just snap a Photo and instantly send it Out to the Home PC or anywhere else. I really need to find something else to spend money on

Voice Recognition? I have a Clarion AutoPC in my truck, and although it has a very limited set of commands, it understands them well, and with a really dinky mic mounted on my dashboard. It runs WinCE and only has 16mg DRAM/8mg ROM, if I remember correctly, with an Hitashi SH3 processor. Surely either the I-Opener or Virgin WebPlayer would be able to at least as good a job??? Probably have a good deal to do with the sound chip.. Gotta read up on that. Anybody have any experience with voice recog with either of these i-appliances, please email me. Thanks. leathers@netins.net
Keep on truckin', or hackin' or sit back and watch TV...
