Hey gang, I finally got my IO to boot from my IBM drive thanks to BadFlash.com

Everything else seems to be recognized but I can't seem to get win98 to see my iomega parallel port zip drive. Every other computer I have ever used hasn't had a problem with this drive.

Can anyone out there tell me if there is a way to get this to show up? Or direct me to the appropriate thread. I've searched...

Go into the BIOS setup screen and check that the parallel port is setup for the correct enhanced operating mode to allow bidirectional transfers. The default is standard printer (ie out only). You may also have to play around with the DMA settings if you have the Yamaha sound chip.

Turbo3

Could you explain this in a little more detail please. I'm having the same problem and have gone into the BIOS and only gotten confused.

The only settings that seem to have anything to do with the parallel port are in the "Integrated Peripherials" catagory and they don't make a whole lot of sense to me. The first one;

Onboard Parallel Port: 378/IRQ7
has the options .... Disabled, 3BC/IRQ7, 278/IRQ5
What do these mean? Is this even the correct one to play with?

The second one;

Onboard Parallel Mode: Normal
has the options .... EPP, ECP, ECP/EPP
More acronyms that create confusion.

Could you shed some light on this subject for me?

Ok I've tried all combinations of the parallel port options under the Integrated Peripherials catagory and still can't see the zip drive (or anything else on the parallel port for that matter). Any suggestions anyone?

I couldn't get the drive to work intially, but I downloaded the latest version of the drivers from the iomega site (setup file), and it worked like a charm.

Tried that, the new version is 2.8 and was just posted Dec 11, 2000. Still doesn't work. I get a message that reads;

"Here are the Iomega drives found on your system:

"No Iomega Drives Detected."

"Are all of your Iomega drives listed?"

uninstalling and reinstalling the various version of the drivers does not change that message. What options do I have here?

KneuB_2: I know you've said that you tried all of the Bios configurations, but it should work with the "Onboard Parallel Port : 378/IRQ7" and Onboard Parallel Port Mode : Normal". Then, plug the zip drive in the back, turn it on, and install the newest drivers from the iomega web site. Finally reboot. If this doesn't work, look in device manager to see if you have some conflict. This has always worked for me. Sounds like a conflict problem if you've already done this.

I don't think Turbo3 can talk much. It seems as though he's currently stranded in another country, was it the PHilipines? I forgot. Man don't i wish i could be be somewhere else besides here in the states. the economic slowdown is taking its toll. its even worse when the president elect bush tell us we're in for a slowdown economy. great, why don't you just tell us all we'll be poor, might as well. what encouragement. j/k hahaha, i still think it was a bad ideal to be pessimistic. after all, if you can't take your president's word, who do you take then?
