Failed JailBait install (new probelm, I think)
jailbait starts to uncompress then just restarts the i-opener

hello all, spent half the night trying to install jailbait 6 on the sansdisk. I run win98 on my notebook harddrive and I used Dolly to transfer the image into the sansdisk. It reported no probelms. I have tried both with and without the '/c' option. Both results lead to the same end. The i-opener boots, I get the uncompressing linux text and then the line about the kernal and then it just restarts. Each and every time. I am perplexed. I searched the forum before this post and i am fairly sure that no one has spoken of this probem. I have used jailbait on this machine before, but the difference was that then I had the harddive mounted externally and just unplugged it if I wanted to use jailbait. Now I have the harddrive mounted internally. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. I have tried two different images of jailbait with no change. beatniks3. happy thanksgiving!

don't know what you're doing with the /c

what i did to mount jailbait 6, and i did it several times, so i do know it worked.

i plugged the harddrive in with dolly. i think in the bios only c: is designated as boot, no other was in there for the order.

i then got into a command prompt by boot up the harddrive and keepping the f8 key which would be the 8th key on top of the io keyboard.

once at the prompt, i'll run the dolly program such by this command dolly jaibait6.img 129:

something like that. basically putting the jailbait image to the 129 which is the 2nd disk and this being the sandisk.

then, i'll reboot, and go into the bios to change the order of the boot to d: or the sandisk instead.
you'll have to use a regular keyboard and hit the control alt and esc keys.

good luck hombre.

thank you for the reply. I may have not made myself clear in my post. I have already done everything you suggested. The '/c' option of dolly is called the clone option. It is supposed to make the harddrive bootable. But like I said I have tried it with and without using the clone option. Can anyone help? Does anyone know what would cause the i-opener to restart like it does? I have tried many different bios options from changing the boot sequence to changing the drive to c: Jailbait still restarts at the same moment each time....right after the 'normal' line about the kernal. The only thing I can think might be the probelm is that the jailbait image comes from a cd that i burned with programs on it. Could this be the problem? Thanks for any help. beatniks3.

been racking my brains on this probelm...still no solution. I have downloaded another copy from the jailbait website with no help. The only thing that I can think of that might be the probelm is the Pentium 200mmx processor that i am running in it. Can anyone confirm that they are using jailbait with a pentium processor? That was the only change that I made to the i-opener since I last had jailbait working on it. Thanks, beatniks3

~hi~ can anyone confirm that Jailbait 6 works with a pentuim 200MMX processor? I remember reading that ckbone has a 200MMX. Ckbone, have you tried jailbait 6 with that processor? Its funny, last time i had jailbait correctly installed (still had rise cpu), I had cable internet, so I never tried dial-up using jailbait. Now i don't have cable :(, and I can't get jailbait to run correctly. haha. computers! thanks for any help. beatniks3

New MessageIt was the pentium 200MMX that was causing the restarts! (modified 0 times) beatniks3

hi all,
well finally got some time to switch the processors (Rise cpu and pentium). It turns out that the pentium was casuing the restarts. Jailbait now works with the Rise cpu installed. Does anyone know if jailbait could be configured to run with the pentium? The Rise runs warmer than it, and i don't think the Rise performs as well. thanks, beatniks3
