I installed the audio mod from mp3boombox and it works great the instructions givin are easy to read and the pictures provide a good reference. the installation is easy to perform needing just 4 solder joints. If you read the instructions provided isolate the componets to solder to prior to doing anything your installation should work great. the sound is clean and strong. Thanks for such an easy Mod.

saddly, This mod of mine only works for the yamaha sound chip. Have faith I'm doing my homework on getting the later sound chip to use the audio out also. An other guy has done this i believe, If this holds true i'll see if i can't just save my self some time and find the correct area's IF any to use my current MOD.
Later on i'm going to have an audio in mod wich i'll be doing for a reduced VERY reduced price to any one thats gotten a MOD from me already
and ultimatly i'll do a DUAL once i'v got the INFO.
:) good new and bad new's, GOOD new's. I just got a new job at the Jackson Lab www.jax.org, other good new's my jury duty was delayed to a LATER date because of the TYPE of job i'm in now. Massive training and schooling in BIO tech. and genetics. BUT its free collage basicly and i'm being paid with GREAT benifits, If i pass all the test's i WILL recive collage level degrees in the varius things they have. :) I'm an animal care tech. I'll NEVER LOOK AT MICE THE SAME WAY AGAIN!!!!!! try being in a stairal ROOM with aprox 200,000 mice :) LOT of work changing them from cage to cage weaning, sexing, checking for genetic defect mice which some times prove to be a COUR mouse simply because of one gean that makes them suseptable to some thing that humans are. they do test's maby find a CURE for it and bing bang boom, :) BYBY what ever.

Bad new's. Till I get settled in I'm only going to deal with the current mod's i build.
reason being is i'v got a lot of excess parts for making the MOD'S (though still waiting on serial mod chip's, This is getting anoying!!!!) so its just a SLAP solder crimp and pachage. :) got to love repat. work NOT

jackaround where you put the audio jack?? on front side somewhere???? If i can find some cheep easy parts i'm going to make the DANG audio jack detachable from the main audio mod unit via a male/female connector. just for ease of use, my audio mod is attached to the back of my case. :) annoying when i open my io but this will be fixed later.

Tell me what you think of headphones i'm intrested, the other thing that intrests me is if there is any difference in winblows sound drivers on this hack??? I use the OLDER opl3 driver which put the nice little icon in the control pannel, OH also jackinaround IF you want midi out on the AUDIO out adapter, i'll discribe to you later or just email me how and or i'll post it in here some time. There is one setting you must change in the control pannel/multi media for a MIDI output device to hear midi on both the onboard speakers and the audio out PORT. THATS the only thing that will throw people.

I put the jack on the lower right side on back next to the ps2 port perfect fit. the internal portion I hot glued to case (front inside) next to sound chip. am using the default windows drivrs under ME turned off mixing. as for headphones I'd just jack out to stereo and use my good ones if I was to want headphones. ah wait a custom mod for a single ear piece with boom mic wire both sound and mic to one jack so you can use those nice sets for phones instead of the lame ones they make for the pc I love my free internet phone calls.

Hey, I remember there used to be a free long distance internet service where you tell it the number and then it rings up both you and the person you want to call. All you had to do was click on a banner ad every 20 minutes or so while you talked. All I can remember now is dialpad.com - still cool, but a big bandwidth hog (on my modem connection anyway).

MP3boobmox: what do you tap for the audio mod? I'm guessing it's not the chip itself as that would be next to impossible :)

to be honist i do tap the chip, but to get to the pins easyer in my EASY to follow instructin's with pic's you just solder to ONE side of a few resisters and your done.

solder 4 wires total very easy! 2 resisters to solder to, a 5v power supply and a ground.

Then you just have to mount the audio jack somewhere. I try to keep this MOD as painless as possable. Its the only one of mine that require solder, even then its just 4 wires.

incredibly simple audio mod if you have a bit of soldering experience and a steady hand ;)
simple enough to build yourself as well, but everythingtake time of course. the soldering is not very difficul, although if you're inexperienced you might want to watch out when soldering the wires for the audio channels onto the capacitors. otherwise it's a great mod!
