Waiting for the flames about how I should be running linux on my IO, but has anyone used WinMe on the IO? Anyone have any results, benchmarks, or issues? Would love to know

there is a post running somewhere (of course) that has the benchmarks, or rather yet a brief message summary.
Windows ME runs best, better than the others only if you have tons of resources ram. like 128 and above. otherwise it falls last after the order of windows 2k pro, win95, win98se in form of speed.

I've got ME running on a Pentium200, 128 meg ram.........The secret to speed is to turn off the "Recover" program. I like the OS, it was an easy install, a lot easier than Win98se. With recover off, it compares favorably with 98, but still slower than Win2k. I've got all three running on two different Openers... I think Win2k is the best, with ME close behind.

i take it you're refering to win2k pro. any ideal if win2k server would work. were there drivers for the win2k to work?

thanks.

ASPguy...It's Win2000 pro running on my I-Opener. I've got a copy of 2000 server, but there is no reason to use it if you have 2000 pro, none that I know of anyway. As far as the drivers go, on my V4 all the drivers were loaded by default during the install, even the video driver. I installed the 4-in-one drivers (4.25a now) with no sweat. Everything works fine, for several months now.

ME installed easily. I only had to install the video driver....everything else installed including all my USB stuff. I got the MS stuff free....if I had to buy it, I'd go with ME. As easy as these two systems installed, I can't see going with anything else.
