If you have access to a P6 VRM module check it out closely...
I found 2 dip switches the same size as required on the i-Opener on a dual Pentium pro motherboard Voltage Regulator Module.

Was going thru my vast collection of dumpster dived computer parts and noticed these switches on the plug in VRM module, Made my day!

BTW scored on a "D-Dived" Delta Electronics 40x IDE CD-ROM drive, The laser lense just needed cleaning!
Lots of other VERY cool finds this month!

Bet some of you folks wonder why go out doing this....
Mostly educational. It is an excellent source of computer parts and technology that I can study and can get an oportunity to trouble shoot some of it and repair! Keeps my SMD soldering skills sharpened up too!
I've built many computers mostly from "recycled parts"! A few from 100% recycled parts including unused Win 98. The fastest has been 300mhz (w/ Found AMD k6-300 cpu & 8.4 GB Maxtor HDD).

If I had taken photos and posted them of all the sites I go and what I've found, some of you would be truly amazed of all the perfectly usable stuff (Treasure) that corporate America tosses out!

Going out tommorrow morning 3am...History proves lots of stuff....End of year....Lots of TAX WRITE OFFS tossed out!

BTW I'm 47 to some a old Geezer but wiser

mp3boombox,
Thanks for the offer but I rather recycle parts from free unwanted throwaway's.
Absolutely no fun for me in just ordering stuff and putting it together....
So far I've Treasure hunted these working parts for my i-Openers,
4dip switches now and 6 Surface mount Jumper headers with jumpers.
64MB Sodimm Ram (3 modules) all work fine.
1 Pair of 1.2" submini "Foster" internal speakers (They are bigger and sound a heck of a lot better than the original i-opener internal speakers.) Direct internal replacement. {Removed from Toshiba notebook docking station.}
Several 5v cpu cooling fans.
25-30 sections 9" long MINI Ribbon cable with mini ide connectors on end. One end had to be modded to work with i-opener.
Many 2.5" notebook hard drives ranging from 125MB to 2.1GB
Win 95osr2 and 98 (No SE) with EULA still sealed and I'm assuming unused.(PS I'm not selling these).
Various sub mini connectors and wiring harnessess.
Miniature finned heat sinks to use on the CPU Power mosfet.
17 unused small syringes factory filled with "Intel issued" quality silver cpu thermal compound.
and a few other small items but they slip my mind at the moment...

Gosh I love treasure hunting...

Oh yea, now I remember,
(1) 2.5" - 3.5" hard drive cable adapter. 1 had a small burnt open trace common to V+ line.
Fixed by good cleaning, tinning and soldering a small wire jumper across open trace.
