I just ordered a ($199) i-opener from netpliance. I wanted to make sure before I even opened the box that a new one will still be hackable. Is there something i have to do to upgrade the BIOS or can I just plug in an IDE HD with an IMOD3 kit, clip on the fan, boot up and use ctrl-alt-esc or whatever as soon as i get it out of the box? If I have to change anything else I would prefer to get it via free download and only order a new BIOS if the flash process gets messed up. Also wasn't there somthing about clipped IDE pins? Is there a remedy if I have one of those units?
I just finished a V5 from HSC and everything will go smoothly but you will need a new BIOS (from badflash) because the box won't boot if you attach a HD so you won't be able to flash it. There were no cut pins, no goo, no obvious changes or Mod's that I could find other than the hack-proof BIOS that you can't get into.
You will also need the Trident CyberBlade video drivers and the VIA sound drivers. Links to them are posted in this area.
