50 pin cdrom cable
looking for a cdrom cable source

This topic has been touched on before, but I can't seem to respond to that thread. Anyway, has anyone found a source for the 50pin cdrom (Toshiba, ATAPI interface)cables/docking station that can be modified for use? I've got a couple of these drives, but I cannot find a laptop cable with this adapter.

A standard 44 pin cable/connector works with these cdroms. The last 6 pins on the left are audio out only. You don't need to use them unless you play audio cds. You can play mp3s on cd without using those pins. If you really need them, you could chop up another 44pin connector for use on the last 6 pins.

No, he is talking about the ones shown here http://www.toshiba.com/taecdpd/techdocs/1902B/1902connect.shtml which are not standard 44 pin connectors. I haven't seen any response about a source for these either.

I've done some checking on these, (JAE p/n KX15-50KLDL), and they're available through Kensington Electronics. http://www.keiconn.com

They do have a minimum order of 50 pieces at $4.05 each, with 100 pieces getting a slightly lower rate of $3.17 each. They're not currently in stock, so you may have to wait up to 12 weeks for them.

Oops! They have a minimum order of $50, buying 50 should not be required.

Badflash: I'll send you the drive. Thanks no_nick and Kudzu. Here is the info from -pyr- from an earlier thread if someone is interested in the source (I paid $12, but I got XM1102BK which was for the ATAPI adapter):
This guy is selling 2x, 4x, and 6x for 15$ each. He had an ebay auction so I asked him what he had and how big they were. They seem like they would fit in the case ok. heres the text from his emails. His address is:weili@basoncomputer.com and you could order from him at: 800-238-4453x115
