SanDisk Smart media Memory card
Any ideas on implementing

Since the IO already has an interface for a SanDisk memory I have been wondering if there is a way to add a socket for reading the Smart Media memory modules that my Toshiba digital camera uses. The sockets must be quite small since I have an adapter that alows me to put the memory card into my 3.5" floppy slot and read it directly as though it was a 64MB floppy. Without the room for a floppy the IO could sure use a way to transfer 64MB from the desk top to the IO and back. This seems like an easy and realatively inexpensive way to go if the firmware in the IO would work on the Smart Media memory.

For easy fast small file transfer, I've been using a Simple Technology compact flash adapter(USB). You can get these devices for smart media (or both). They require no power adapter....work well on my I-Openers. Since this is a no-sweat setup....I think it is the preferred solution to a difficult mod involving soldering. My little adapter was $30.

You are absolutely right. I should have thought of that. Since I have the steel enclosure I could mount it inside just like I wanted. Perfect solution. I also found a device cxa\alled a "Thumb Drive" that is about the size of your thunb that will plug into the USB port and comes in 8meg ($40) up to 256meg ($600).

for all my file transfers i use a USB laplink cable.

its called the SMART-Linq

transfers at 1.5megs a second. or the max bandwith of the USB port. though it uses a GAY windos GUI. but with time i HOPE microsoft will write the software so it can be used like a direct link adapter or something. would make life much easyer.

my IO is used for downloading stuff via broad band then bringing the files home. then a quick transfer via the smart linq and i'm done.
