VXD crashes on V1 running Win98SE...help!

I could use some expert diagnosis...

I have a V1 i-Opener that has been modded in the following fashion:

Added WinChip2 from upgradeability.com (said it had a clipped pin to put it up to 233 MHz)
Added Lasagna cooler
Added 3.2 GB Toshiba HD
Installed Win98SE
Networking w/Belkin USB->Ethernet F5U111

The system still has the virgin BIOS, since it was unnecessary to flash it.

When I first installed the drive and CPU, everything ran smoothly, the system was stable for at least an hour or so, long enough for me to download and install Winamp, a couple of MP3s, both Netscape and Mozilla, etc.

Now, however, whenever I make much use of the network, I get a BSOD with a VXD complaint.

This is confusing, because it ran swell with all sorts of network access the first time around. Now I can't go for more than a minute or so after opening ANY browser (IE, Mozilla, Netscape all cause the same crash.)

Any ideas? I could always try a reinstall but it seems like it should be unnecessary, all things considered.

yes wipe out all your network software, meaning unplug your usb adapter. and then go into your NETWORK settings section and remove all network stuff. reboot the computer COLD.
then when your in windows so long as you dont get an ERROR you should be able to re add all the network devices. START with teh modem and add a dial up adapter and ipx and tcp/ip. Then reboot, you should be fine now with all the network software to run the MODEM. Now when you get into windows or BEFOR the computer restarts plug the USB nic back in and it should auto find the device. if it does it SHOULD reinstall all software correctly. If not you will have to POINT it to the correct files. then you should be GOOD to go.

That appears to have done the trick! Thanks for the help, I've been live on the i-opener for quite some time now with no serious problems.
