I was never satisfied with with my USB performance, but I wrote it off to the USB bandwidth limitations. I was using a small powered hub ( D-link DSB-H4). The output of it's power supply was 5v@2.4A. This should have been enough to drive the 4 ports. However, when I hooked up a new HP USB cdrom, windows did not even recognize a new device. It did recognize it when I eliminated the hub, and connected directly to the I-Opener. I then started wondering about the D-Link hub. I substituted a Belkin 7 port hub with a much larger power supply.....guess what....the Hp cdrom started working through the hub, my USB speakers started working better(no drop-outs now). Conclusion: if you're having USB problems, suspect an inadequate power supply, or just a crappy hub.
