Howdy,

I ordered the cap161-128mb ibook 128mb memory from memorytogo.com......

When installed, it only shows 64mb!

I believe this is the bios problem that programmer pointed out in a post a while back, but wanted to let everybody know that not all memory with the same part number works the same!

If anybody has any suggestions on making this work, I'd love to hear it.
Jim

Rats. It was already disabled. Thanks for the idea, though.

Programmer... wildpencil....anybody...

Do you guys know what I should ask for from Memorytogo that will work? Any magic specs for the 128m pc100 sodimm that works?
Thanks!

ask for 8 chips..

If you look at your memory, you (should) notice that it has 4 chips. The chipset (it seems) does not support 256Mbit chips. If you get SODIMMS that use 8 128Mbit chips, they should work.

In theory (I haven't tested it) you should be able to use 256MB SODIMMS that have 16 half-size 128Mbit chips.

Thank you programmer!

I'll as for that when I exchange the memory.

I can confirm that the chips on the sodimm that memorytogo sent has 4 chips.

I have ordered the same memory, and it only has four chips... but it works in my v5 I-O. So, do you think they fixed this problem in the later revisions?

Nevermind... mine has 8 chips. Sorry. I had to double-check it.
